In celebration of the International Youth Day this month, here is the update on the BWF-WAoS Athlete Certificate Scholarship programme.
For the 2020 and 2021 editions, BWF received more than 400 applications and 222 young athletes (121 male, 101 female) from 63 countries benefitted from the scholarship.
BWF opened a new cycle on 1 June 2022 and received 117 online applications (71 male, 46 female) from 34 countries across five continents. Of those, 26 currently compete in BWF-sanctioned tournaments. (link)
With the increased interest in the dual-career programmes, plans are being made to promote them to players at the BWF World Junior Championships 2022 in Santander, Spain in October.
