IPC & AGITOS Support Programme
The BWF works in close partnership with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to provide opportunities for National Paralympic Committees, Member Associations and National Para Badminton Associations to develop Para badminton globally.
Since 2017, the BWF has accessed a variety of direct and indirect support through the IPC, which has supported the growth of Para badminton globally, particularly in development regions.
The BWF works with the IPC to support the following types of activities:
- Raising Awareness of Para badminton
- Coach Development
- Classifier Development
- Administrator Development
- Player Education
- Player Camps
- Player Classification
- Equipment Support
IPC & AGITOS Grant Support Programme
The IPC & AGITOS Foundation Grant Support Programme (GSP) is an annual pool of funding that International Federations and National Paralympic Committees can apply for to deliver projects that develop athletes, raise awareness about the Paralympic Movement or develop Para sport.
The BWF has been a recipient of the IPC & AGITOS Foundation Grant Support Programme in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, where more than 200 participants and 20 countries have benefited from the Programme.
Support for Member Associations
BWF Members Associations are not permitted to apply directly for support through IPC & AGITOS Foundation GSP, however applications from National Paralympic Committees are permitted. The BWF would like to encourage Member Associations to discuss with their National Paralympic Committee, opportunities to submit an application for a Para badminton project as part of the IPC & AGITOS Foundation GSP.
The BWF and its Continental Confederations will work with any Member Association and National Paralympic Committees, wishing to submit an application to the IPC & AGITOS Foundation GSP.

In partnership with the IPC & AGITOS Foundation, the BWF delivers opportunities for athletes to attend education workshops, covering a variety of topics annually. Athletes are at the heart of everything we do and Proud Paralympian provides opportunities for athletes to be supported off the court, as well as on the court.
Proud Paralympian workshops are delivered by certified Proud Paralympian Ambassadors and cover a variety of topics including;
- The Paralympic Movement
- Human Rights
- Working with the media
- Ethics
- Dual Career Strategy
- Athlete Health and Well-being

The BWF deliver Proud Paralympian workshops on an annual basis in conjunction with international Para badminton tournaments. Information on any upcoming workshops will be sent to Member Associations, National Paralympic Committees and National Para Badminton Associations, with details of how athletes can register to attend.
IPC & AGITOS Foundation Sport Technical Workshops
In partnership with the IPC & AGITOS Foundation, the BWF has delivered a number of Sport Technical Workshops. These workshops target a group of countries, who have expressed an interest and commitment to develop Para badminton structures nationally and may include the following activities:
- Administration and Planning Workshops
- Coach Education
- National Classifier Workshops
- Player Development Camps
- Proud Paralympian Workshops
Aimed at young children in schools, the IPC & AGITOS Foundation provide a toolkit of resources for teachers to share the Paralympic values and inclusion through Para sport to the next generation. Utilising the Shuttle Time Programme, the BWF has developed a badminton module, to allow school teachers delivering the I’m Possible Programme to introduce Para badminton to school-aged children.
The BWF encourages Member Associations, currently implementing the Shuttle Time Programme to discuss with their National Paralympic Committee and Education Ministry opportunities to incorporate the I’m Possible Programme within their school’s programmes.
