In recognition of the key role of the tutor workforce in the global success of the BWF Coach Education Programme, BWF kicked off a series of Tutor Refresher & Upskilling workshops in Lima, Peru in October.
The three-day workshops were aimed at the experienced tutors who constitute the motor of Coach Education in Pan Am, but also offered targeted individuals identified with potential to join the tutor community to give them a head start.
The workshops, which consisted a Spanish-speaking edition followed by an English-speaking group, were run by BWF Head of Educational Programmes, Sharon Springer.
There were 10 participants in the Spanish-speaking group from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Aruba, Colombia and Chile. The English-speaking group included five participants from the United States, Canada and Jamaica.
Each edition introduced tutors to the new elements and tools available in the Coach Education Programme, as well as how best to take advantage of them.
In addition, participants were encouraged to reflect on their role as tutors and had ample opportunities to explore a variety of tools to bring about learning.
At the end, participants shared their successes and challenges within the programme and identified best practices across the region.
The next workshop is in Malaysia in early November.
