March 7, 2024

Egypt Badminton Federation has been identified as the recipient of the Enhanced Membership Grant Programme, a new pilot project aimed at increasing the capacity of Member Associations in countries of strategic importance and with significant growth potential.

The Enhanced Membership Grant Programme brings key stakeholders together to grow and develop the sport at all levels nationally. BWF expertise and financial support is provided, along with local support from identified partners.

In the pilot phase of the project, the Egyptian Badminton Federation were identified, and following successful meetings with the Ministry of Youth & Sport, National Olympic & Paralympic Committees and other key stakeholders, the process of collaboration has begun. It is hoped that the success of this pilot project will lead to other similar projects in 2024 and beyond.

Background
In October 2019, the BWF Council approved a new Membership Grants Programme for the period 2020-2024.
The BWF Membership Grant Programme provides opportunities for Member Associations to access tailored support, to assist them in developing badminton in their country.
The programme provides further funding for MAs, and compliments the existing grants provided by the BWF for Regional development to its five Continental Confederations.

BWF Support
The support available for most Member Associations is through a Base Grant, with eligible Member Associations receiving a support grant of up to US$5,000 through the BWF Membership Grant Programme 2020-2024, which can be used to support a series of developmental areas, identified by the BWF.
In the case of the Enhanced Membership Grant, the BWF may offer an additional support grant to a small number of Member Associations. These MAs may be selected based on identified strategic, commercial or market growth priorities and opportunities.
